A Chilly Tuesday Morning in January
Feeling the burn on this chilly winter morning training with bright and sunny Sarah. A nice gentle run for 1 mile to warm-up and take us to a good spot for our session.
Dynamic walking exercises, consisting of the undervalued high knees and heel kicks including full range of movement with the arms. Forward walking lunges with side twists and backwards walking.
Tabata sprints: 20 seconds at max sprint and 10 seconds rest, repeating 8 times. Phew!
Today’s leg strength exercises, getting very challenging by the 4 counts were:
Squats, jump squats, knee to chest jumps and tip toe squats. Using the downward half of a pyramid circuit we completed all exercises in lots of 10’s, 9’s, 8’s (burning!)….4’s (super ouch!!) …1’s – none stop!
We used bands for our arm strength. Very effective and easy to carry on our run. Again, 4 exercises in this circuit: bicep curls, tricep kick backs, lateral arm raises and shoulder press. We completed these in lots of 20’s, then 15’s, 10’s, 5’s.
Easy run to cool down for 5 mins followed by static stretches….and rest!
